During my visit to Singapore from May 1st to 3rd, 2023, I had the opportunity to explore some remarkable tourist destinations. After arriving in Singapore by bus from Kuala Lumpur on May 1st, I was warmly received by my childhood brothers, Mr. Vijay Magar and Tara Darlami, who picked me up from the bus stop. With limited time on our hands, we wasted no time and headed straight to the stunning Gardens by the Bay. This iconic attraction left me in awe with its unique and captivating beauty. Throughout the day, we ventured to various other popular tourist spots, immersing ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Singapore. As the evening approached, I was invited to attend the Welcome Dinner organised by the Gurkha Contingent Camp in Singapore. This camp is home to over 2,300 Nepali brothers serving as special forces in the Singapore police. It was an honor to visit the camp, meet and greet the Nepali brothers, and partake in a delightful dinner. Before retiring for the night at Hotel IBS, we also had the chance to visit a temple, adding a touch of spirituality to our day. The warmth and generosity extended to me by the Nepali brothers left a lasting impression, as I received a heartfelt welcome and a thoughtful gift. The following morning, May 2nd, we paid our respects at the Kranji War Memorial, commemorating the brave Gurkha soldiers who sacrificed their lives. It was a humbling experience that deepened my admiration for their courage. Continuing our exploration, we set foot on Sentosa Island, a renowned tourist destination. We visited notable attractions such as Fort Siloso, immersing ourselves in the island’s history and charm. In the evening, I participated in a meet and greet program organised by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) National Coordination Council in Singapore. The President and many fellow NRNs warmly welcomed me, fostering engaging discussions about strengthening the NRNA and addressing various opportunities and challenges. On the final day, May 3rd, we severed a delicious lunch and took the opportunity to further explore Singapore’s captivating sights before bidding farewell and returning to Malaysia. Although the visit was brief, I cherished the moments spent discovering Singapore’s wonders. The trip was truly unforgettable, and I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Prabhakar Prajuli, President of NRNA NCC, the entire team, and my dear brothers Mr. Tara Darlami and Vijay Magar for their exceptional hospitality. Thank you all for contributing to such a memorable experience.
