Sapkota, a foreign citizen of Nepali origin and an active member of the Non-Resident Nepali community, currently serves as Spokesperson and Chair of the Tourism Promotion Committee of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). Over the years, he has played a significant role in promoting Nepal’s tourism sector internationally and building strategic partnerships across global markets.
Key Role in “Visit Bharatpur 2024” Campaign
He previously served as International Coordinator for the “Visit Bharatpur 2024” campaign, which contributed to enhancing the city’s international visibility and positioning it as an emerging tourism hub in Nepal. City officials acknowledged his contribution in promoting Bharatpur beyond national boundaries and engaging international audiences through his professional network.

Extensive International Experience
Sapkota has been actively engaged in tourism promotion for several decades and has worked closely with the Government of Nepal as well as various national and international organizations, including NGOs and INGOs. Currently based in Europe since 1996, he has consistently contributed to promoting Nepal as a travel destination through global networks and diaspora engagement.
His international roles include serving as a representative of the Nepal Tourism Board in Denmark (2016–2018) and Malta (2019–2021), as well as being appointed Tourism Goodwill Ambassador to Wales in 2022 and Tourism Promoter for Wales from 2023 to 2025 by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. He continues to actively promote Nepal’s tourism sector in Wales and other international markets.
Focus on Cultural and Spiritual Tourism
In addition to general tourism promotion, Sapkota has been actively involved in promoting Nepal’s Buddhist heritage destinations, including Lumbini, Devdaha, Ramgram, and Kapilvastu. His efforts aim to highlight Nepal’s spiritual and cultural richness to international audiences.
